Marshmallow Frosting

A fun spin on buttercream with marshmallow creme, making simple, sticky, and candy recipes. Perfect your favorite cupcake.

I have another delicious recipe that you will receive today! But first, I just have to be honest and tell you how this recipe actually becomes ...

This should be the Cadbury Egg Cupcake. You know, as it is displayed all over Pinterest. However, it was Pinterest's epic failure. I really need to take a picture to post to one of Pinterest's failed posts. The egg melted and only a hard sticky lump in the bottom of the cupcake. So I definitely need to rethink that recipe and try again! (Maybe I'll fix it next Easter!)

Luckily, I still had a very delicious WIN from that experience and that is what I shared today. Amazing Frostmallow Marshmallow recipe! Everyone was very happy with Peeps during Easter (including my children!), So I thought it would be nice to make freeze marshmallows to complete your non-failed Pinterest-bowl cake! Something you can take a peek at and it will be very delicious, lively, and most importantly delicious. This Marshmallow Frosting recipe is basically buttercream mixed with Marshmallow creme.

Just a quick note about herbs: I tested almond and vanilla extract. Almond extract is amazing, but I think vanilla extract makes it feel more marshmallow. However, your marshmallow frosting will taste delicious, but I just want to throw it away for you!

INGREDIENTS

  • 2 sticks of butter 1 cup, room temperature
  • 1 13 ounces jar of marshmallow fluff or creme
  • 4 cups of powdered sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon of almond or vanilla extract

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. In a large bowl, shake with butter and extract.
  2. Add the powdered sugar, and continue to shake at medium speed until the mixture resembles frosting.
  3. When your mixture is creamy, shake it in marshmallow creme. Fair warning: this will be a little sticky.
  4. If you feel your marshmallow frosting is too thick, you can add a tablespoon of milk or cream to thin it a little. Likewise, if you think it's too thin, please add a little powdered sugar, a quarter cup at a time.
  5. Pipe or spread it over your favorite cupcake, and enjoy!
